Project Overview

The Anthem is the first phase of Square 10 – a large-scale revitalization plan that will create new mixed-income housing within a ground-up, mixed-use, transit-oriented development on the former site of the New Haven Coliseum. Alongside market-rate units, the project will include units that are affordable to families at a range of 60-100% of AMI as well as 16,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 25,000 square feet of public open space. Upon completion, The Anthem along with the other phases of Square 10, will transform and revitalize this integral corner of New Haven, providing a critical gateway to downtown.

Impact

Affordability

The Anthem will bolster the production of mixed-income, mixed-use housing on an underutilized site in downtown New Haven. The project will add 200 new units, 40 of which will serve families with a range of incomes, between 60%-100% AMI, ensuring lower and middle-income households have the chance to participate in and benefit from the revitalization of New Haven’s downtown.

Sustainability

The project will include electric vehicle charging stations, a bike storage facility, and electric HVAC and appliances. The development will also deliver 25,000 square feet of activated, outdoor public space and provide access to a Bike Share System that will encourage residents to use alternative modes of transportation.

Diversity

The Anthem will provide housing that brings together families from a wide range of socio-economic levels. The public plaza will be an open space designed to serve people of all ages and will include ample recreational and entertainment opportunities. The Sponsor will also look to lease retail and commercial spaces to local small businesses, while offering mentorship opportunities in various aspects of business management.
